Being part of the Backyard Habitat Program has meant so much to me! Even though I have been a designer for several decades, I didn’t realize the importance of putting native plants into projects until I became a volunteer for this program back in 2020. After watching participants struggle to wrap their heads around what needs to be done, I decided it was time to offer simple designs that would meet certification criteria and offer assistance to help people get these projects in the ground! Often I can help you procure plants and even place them where they belong.
Consultations are $150 for the first 90 minutes and Silver Certification mini designs start at $500.
Backyard Habitats
I loved helping Amanda get her certification! She knows a ton about plants but just needed me to help by laying out a clear path for her to follow. She agreed to be bold by replacing her entire front lawn area with natives! Step 1: Complete a targeted design. Step 2: Cover the lawn with cardboard and smother. She opted to add lots of compost which helped her new plants grow like crazy. Step 3: Procure and place the plants. Step 4: Add a bit of mulch, keep weeded and watered. Watch the wildlife flourish!
